Stretched buttons inside StackPanel

Hi i am currently struggling to understand how to easily achieve this. I need 2 or more buttons to be stretched in StackPanel. I tried to use HorizontalAlignment="Stretch" however it anything in stackpanel wont be stretched to remaining space.

With this simple xaml:

<StackPanel
    Grid.Row="3"
    Margin="8"
    HorizontalAlignment="Stretch"
    Orientation="Horizontal"
    Spacing="5">

    <Rectangle />
    <Button
        HorizontalAlignment="Stretch"
        Classes="Danger"
        Theme="{StaticResource OutlineButton}">
        Cancel
    </Button>
    <Button
        MaxWidth="500"
        HorizontalAlignment="Stretch"
        Classes="Success"
        Theme="{StaticResource SolidButton}">
        Accept
    </Button>

</StackPanel>

I get this:

As i said, doesnt matter if its border or rectangle ether. Nothing gets stretched in the stacj panel even if the stackpanel itself is stretched.

Is that intended behavior?

The reason why i need it like this is that when one of the buttons are not visible it will stretch automatically the rest.

Your <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal">, stacks its elements horizontally, a horizontal stretch will then not work on an element, by design; if you set the orientation to vertical, you would see the stretching will work. It is not entirely clear to me what layout you are looking for as an end result, but just a simple stackpanel possibly will not get you there.

Well i solved my issue by writing my own stackpanel control that behaves like this

    Grid.Row="3"
    Margin="8"
    HorizontalAlignment="Stretch"
    Orientation="Horizontal"
    Spacing="5">

    <Button
        HorizontalAlignment="Stretch"
        Classes="Danger"
        Theme="{StaticResource OutlineButton}">
        Cancel
    </Button>

    <Button
        HorizontalAlignment="Stretch"
        Classes="Primary"
        Theme="{StaticResource SolidButton}">
        Authorize Unit
    </Button>

</controls:StretchingStackPanel>
