After you enable/disable the status bar in Open-Shell, click OK in Classic Explorer Settings, and you'll get a popup telling you the settings will take effect after closing all File Explorer windows and opening a new File Explorer window.

I did this procedure already several times and unfortunately without any success. That's why I enabled logging of open shell events using the utility.exe provided. I can't judge what's wrong here.

Okay, then. Not sure exactly what's causing this problem. You could try A) simply rebooting your computer (which can solve the weirdest of issues sometimes), B) make sure no other software is messing with Explorer (StartAllBack, Windhawk, Start11, etc.) Beyond that, I'm not sure what to tell you.

I already did all of the above, unfortunately without success, that's why I logged this issue as a bug. Any further suggestions welcome.

Sorry, that's about all I got. You could try uninstalling and reinstalling Open-Shell, but that probably won't help. Sorry I can't help you more. I am not a dev, just another user. The status bar from Classic Explorer works fine for me, but that's on Windows 10. I hope you find a solution though!

Thanks for your help, this problem seems to be more resistive and may need a developers attention.
