Ability to use literal . in route names

Flat routing is amazing and I want to keep using it. But there are situations where the route needs a file extension.

robots.txt
sitemap.xml
foo.pdf

If there were a way to indicate that a particular . is intended as a literal in the route name, that'd solve it.
