C++ Version support?

Can Eclipse CDT AST Parser parse all version of C++. What is the latest C++ version supported?

Hi @VenoVeno, generally speaking C++11 is pretty much fully supported, C++14 is mostly supported, and some of C++17 and C++20 is. The more recent filed bugs affecting language support are tagged with language tag and there are numerous bugs still in Bugzilla too:

• C++-20 root bug
• C++-17 root bug
• C++-14 root bug
• C++-11 root bug
• C11 root bug

Contributions that improve parser support is certainly welcome and there have been numerous fixes and improvements in recent releases. However long term the CDT project is expecting to rely on Language Servers to fully support C++ going forward, with clangd the current language server of choice. Please follow the CDT LSP repo for details and to try it out.

I have one more question to add, i'm using the org.eclipse.cdt.core jar to parse the AST of a source.

# Source:
int num = 10;

# AST:
- CPPASTTranslationUnit (Home.cpp:1) -> 
  - CPPASTSimpleDeclaration (Home.cpp:1) -> int num = 10;
    - CPPASTSimpleDeclSpecifier (Home.cpp:1) -> int
    - CPPASTDeclarator (Home.cpp:1) -> num = 10
      - CPPASTName (Home.cpp:1) -> num
      - CPPASTEqualsInitializer (Home.cpp:1) -> = 10
        - CPPASTLiteralExpression (Home.cpp:1) -> 10

Like this, can the Eclipse CDT LSP provide a similar kind of structure to iterate over the source with AST or any other structure? Does it currently have support for it? If no, is there any future plans to expose the structure?

Rather than tag on somewhat unrelated followups on this issue, can you please start a new discussion - if you want to discuss CDT's integration with clangd, you can ask in that repo, or if you want to talk about clangd specifically try to ask them.
