Always visible controls

I'd like to know if I can make an object's controls always visible, without the object having to be active.

I found a forum where they did this, but it was in an older version. Now, after checking, I checked to see if the object's active function is valid; it no longer exists. Could someone help me with this?

I'm leaving a basic canvas with two objects so I can apply it.
