TypeError: Failed to update a ServiceWorker for scope, A bad HTTP response code (404) was received when fetching the script

Currently using in production. The stubbed implementation can be found here: https://www.aquibbaig.in/posts/pwa-update-notification. I can manually fetch the service-worker by visiting the link which threw a 404 but these messages keep on coming on the console. I do not know how to debug them.

I register and update my service worker using a custom hook in App.js to make use of react state hooks, is this a bad pattern?
