Recently i get strange errors with git.

Any idea what can causing such issues?

The closest related post I found is this one: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/28861237/bash-is-crashing-on-cygwin-add-item-c-cygwin. Maybe there is some sort of concurrency going on?

Well, I am asking again, after 3 years plus some change, maybe there is some concurrency going on here?

don't know. maybe. vscode is regularly fetching remotes and I've multiple projects open at same time. it had worked fine for a long time but it started with those errors recently.

could be windows defender interfere somehow here? 🤔

Possible, but I have Defender running here, too, and it does not interfere. But then, our configurations might differ. There's no way to know, as this report is missing vital information such as /etc/install-options.txt, Git for Windows version, simple reproducer, etc.

it seems it doesn't matter which remote. i saw it happen on github and forgejo (gitea fork).

I've now opened a bash in backgroud, maybe that helps to suppress the race because the shared memory is held?

Strange, it's getting worse. leaving a git-bash open is solving the add_item issue. But now some processes hung for ~1 to ~2 min

some other times it is sh.exe. any idea's what this can cause? I've excluded the git dir from defender, but it doesn't help.

for additional info: my pc is a domain member and I'm using a domain account.
