What parts of Modrinth is your feature request related too?

The desktop modrinth client

Is your suggested feature related to a problem? Please describe.

Managing your skin in the Modrinth launcher is a feature on the road map, but it’s important to note that changing your skin isn’t the same as changing your in-game cape. Think of it like this: a square is technically a rectangle, but it has equal sides—similar, but the square has that extra requirement.

While a few years ago, cape management might have seemed unnecessary for the small percentage of players who owned them (around 0.1%), times have changed. Capes have become more common, with nearly 3% of players now owning at least one. It’s still a small number, but significant enough that managing both skins and capes is now a feature many players would appreciate.

Personally, the ability to swap between capes and skins is one of the main reasons I still keep the vanilla launcher installed—it’s a simple but meaningful convenience!

Describe the solution you'd like

I would personally like to see the skin customization menu become more of a generic customization menu with a tab for skin and another one for cape, possibly with the ability to save preset skin+cape combos. I would also think that the cape menu should either be grayed out if a user doesn't own any capes, or should just be hidden if they don't own a cape with a small piece of text saying "Cape menu hidden because you don't have any capes" or something

First rule of the internet: Name everything right(this would have caused this issue to not exist, no mention of capes anywhere on roadmap or in referenced issue), Two: being publicly wrong is the best way to either A make your voice heard or B have someone come correct you with the right information
