How to increase the sidebar width?

We have a Quarto website with a style: "docked" sidebar which we find too narrow for the items titles.
I have found that the following does what we want but adds extra margin to the mobile view which we don't really want.

$grid-screen-inset-padding: 1.5em;

I wonder what's would be the best way to modify the sidebar width.

Hi all, it looks like this useful functionality has been implemented in Quarto 1.3+. I have a pre-release 1.3.75 running and have been able to change the sidebar width in _quarto.yml using

format:
  html:
    grid:
      sidebar-width: 500px

Then I've tried IA (Gemini) which told me I should create a custom CSS (ok, let's try) but didn't work. I was able to change the width of the sidebar by using a rule for #quarto-sidebar but the content was then put "below" the increased sidebar and I was then trying to search for the other classes to change so really wrong direction.
