When will .column classes work with Typst?

I know that .column classes don't yet work with Typst based on the Known Limitations section of the docs where it says:

Advanced page layout (e.g. using the .column classes as explained in Article Layout) is not implemented.

I'm wondering when this feature is likely to be implemented. We (cc: @JosephBARBIERDARNAL) are working on a custom Typst format and are looking ways to make sections with columns in Typst, but we don't want to reinvent the wheel if this is coming soon. Thanks!

.column is a Pandoc feature designed to work mostly with presentation formats.
Use the layout options.
But maybe you are "referencing" the page-layout value? https://quarto.org/docs/output-formats/typst.html#page-layout

edit: hum the name is confusing, the limitation should mention the .column-* classes which are totally different from .column and .columns classes.
For layouts interfering with the margins, for now you'll have to use raw Typst (and/or LUA filter).
From what I know, it might not be for 1.8.

In terms of what I'm looking for, I'm actually trying to make columns in particular sections of PDF reports that we make. That is, I don't want to make the entire report have two columns, but I do want a section to have two columns. So yes, I guess what I'm looking for is similar to what I do in RevealJS presentations:

My interpretation of the Known Limitations section is that this would be coming in the future, but perhaps I'm misunderstanding that?

The limitation is not about multiple columns.

For multiple columns, use the layout* options like:
