No such file or directory for manuscript with latex format

Description

I am getting the following error when running quarto render from the command line:

ERROR: NotFound: No such file or directory (os error 2): copy '**/index.tex' -> '**/_manuscript/_tex/index.tex'

I can confirm that the file index.tex exists in the _manuscript subfolder but not in the main folder. Seems like an incorrect path issue?

My quarto file is given below:

@cderv you don't need keep-tex. When using pdf, the default (in Manuscript) is to keep/move the LaTeX raw files to _tex directory purposely for publication.

From the repository shared, using the following project configuration:

On great. The code shows otherwise which is why I said that. But we probably set keep-tex by default in manuscript project.

My answer was applying to both single document and manuscript. For the former, it is still needed.

@kamransoomro84 You can write journal's article with Quarto, without using Manuscript project.

Using format: pdf or one of the Journal's article extension: https://quarto.org/docs/extensions/listing-journals.html

They can be combined with Manuscript project though, that brings several more feature, include MECA bundle if needed. All is in the doc!

createTexOutputBundle() is what is supposed to create the _tex bundle with the Manuscript when format: pdf is among output, and keep-tex: true, which what is described in previous answers #12721 (reply in thread)

This is why this is erroring with format: latex and not when format: pdf

This looks like a bug, or at least something we should error more nicely if not allowed (if format: pdf only is supposed to be used not format: latex 🤔

I need to look into it - maybe just not trying to create a _tex bundle when format: pdf is not set is the way to go.
