Add Feature To Use .SCR Files As Live Wallpapers #2663
Comments
Screensavers are just executables, you can rename it to .exe and should work in Lively. |
Sorry for the late reply. I tried it, and it's not working. When I first try to add the files to the Library, a box pops up for Launch Options. I have no idea what to enter in here. If I hit ok, the screensaver's option box pops up. After I hit ok there, the screensaver never appears as a live wallpaper. If I try to select it from the library, either nothing happens, or a box pops up, that reads "Error No process is associated with this object. Exception: Exception" I tried with a few different screensavers, including ones that don't have any configuration options, and none of them worked. |
In the Launch Option try giving: |
I tried it, and it still doesn't work. |
Weird, which screensaver are you using? the default Windows ones worked with /s for me. |
I tried a bunch of different ones, including the Windows default "Bubbles" screensaver. When I added that one, and tried to set it as a wallpaper, the bubbles started to populate for like a second, and then Lively hit me with that "Exception: no process is associated with this object" error. Some of the screensavers would display in a small box, like a YouTube pop-up (had to kill the process, with Process Explorer to get rid of it). Others would display full-screen, but basically like a screensaver, and not like a live wallpaper. So when I'd move the mouse, they'd exit. A few of the screensavers I tried it with: ASCIIquarium: https://github.com/rgoring/asciiquarium 3DMazeMod: https://github.com/Edw590/3DMazeMod BlueScreen: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/bluescreen |
This would add a whole new world of live wallpapers that Lively could display. Also include the ability to access the screensaver's settings to Lively, so the live wallpapers could be configured the same as if they were running as screensavers.
