The trick mentioned as an example is because in the general case, pressing Enter while editing a multi-line history entry (or any history entry really) does not insert a newline, but rather submits the code for evaluation.

There is also an alternative keybinding Ctrl-Q due to that being what it is in Emacs.

(Lots of whitespace in the diff due to CI insisting that the Markdown table is reformatted)
