Essential Elements of an Effective PR Description Checklist

  • The purpose of the PR, such as "Fix some issue (link existing issues this PR will resolve)".
  • The test plan, such as providing test command.
  • The test results, such as pasting the results comparison before and after, or e2e results
  • (Optional) The necessary documentation update, such as updating supported_models.md and examples for a new model.

Purpose

To make the page cleaner and easier to read, try to display the following content in collapsible sections:

👋 Hi! Thank you for contributing to the vLLM project.

💬 Join our developer Slack at https://slack.vllm.ai to discuss your PR in #pr-reviews, coordinate on features in #feat- channels, or join special interest groups in #sig- channels.

Just a reminder: PRs would not trigger full CI run by default. Instead, it would only run fastcheck CI which starts running only a small and essential subset of CI tests to quickly catch errors. You can run other CI tests on top of those by going to your fastcheck build on Buildkite UI (linked in the PR checks section) and unblock them. If you do not have permission to unblock, ping simon-mo or khluu to add you in our Buildkite org.

Once the PR is approved and ready to go, your PR reviewer(s) can run CI to test the changes comprehensively before merging.

To run CI, PR reviewers can either: Add ready label to the PR or enable auto-merge.

Summary of Changes

Hello @reidliu41, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request focuses on enhancing the user experience of the documentation by implementing collapsible sections for lengthy code examples, command-line outputs, and configuration snippets. This change aims to declutter the documentation pages, allowing readers to quickly grasp the main content and expand details only when needed, thereby improving overall readability and navigation.

Highlights

  • Improved Documentation Readability: Long code blocks, commands, and outputs across numerous documentation files are now collapsible, making pages cleaner and easier to navigate.
  • Standardized Collapsible Sections: A consistent approach using <details> and <summary> HTML tags has been applied to various .md files, allowing readers to expand content only when needed.
  • Enhanced User Experience: By hiding verbose content by default, the documentation becomes less overwhelming, enabling users to quickly find relevant information and delve into details as required.

IMO 2-3 lines isn't considered long

I think it's still too aggressive. I would only collapse the code blocks if they exceed 10 lines.

Can we use MkDocs collapsible blocks instead of raw html?

https://squidfunk.github.io/mkdocs-material/reference/admonitions#collapsible-blocks

edit: the drawback would be that all the blocks would need to be indented, which would make for a very large diff

I think my main goal was to reduce the impact of long text blocks on the overall page and improve readability.
I'm okay with either approach.
Although switching to ??? would introduce some diff due to indentation, it might help with long-term consistency and better theme integration.
@DarkLight1337 what do you think?

I'm fine with @hmellor 's approach. We should name the admonition something like "Code" though
