This PR backports #104010 and the
"editor_index"
part of #96389 to Godot 4.3. I also threw in a backport of #103625.Why? For the moment, I have my modules/extensions targeting both Godot 4.3 and 4.4. There are a few minor engine changes that can improve the experience there, so I figure it makes sense to backport. Also would be nice to have #104097 and #104113 backported to fix Projection/Vector4(i), but those are bigger and should be cherry-picked the usual way.
I'm opening this PR as draft because the PRs on master have not been merged yet.
